SAPMER company
 
The company SAPMER (www.sapmer.com), based in Reunion Island is an integral part of the heritage of the great fishing of French Southern and Antarctic Territories.
 
This company is known to catch Toothfish, Grenadier, Red lobster, and skate. In the Crozet and Kerguelen Islands.
 
Today the fleet has expanded. Indeed, SAPMER invested in the construction of 3 tuna freezer purse seiners. A completely new design. They will store tuna at -40°C on board.
 
The first has been called “Franche terre” and will offload in Mauritius in August 2009. The two others will be ready for 2010.
 
To be differentiated from other ships SAPMER develops a specification that will guarantee its future customers:
 
  • Respect of all environmental protection standards: energy economy, pollution reduction, waste management.

  • Marine resources: controlled and selective fishing, biodiversity, stock management ...
